Forgiveness and Peace behind Rejection

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace will raise a harvest of righteousness (James 3:17-18 NIV).

“Lord Jesus Christ where did I go wrong? It was Friday, my regular fasting day since 1987, I am praising, praying and fasting to honor You. I can’t believe what’s going on. Rejection hits me! If not because of urgent bill payment I wouldn’t dare to get out of the house.” I prayed silently.

The Holy Spirit prompted me, “Calm down and forgive that person.”

“Yes, I can do it by Your guidance and empowerment, O, Holy Spirit, this is hard.”

I drove back home with heaviness, followed by sulking for weeks, and waited for my emotion to calm down. When the Word in the Bible feed my faith in Jesus; back up by His powerful love resonating in me, heaviness was overruled by forgiveness, compassion and peace of mind. By His wisdom and guidance, a letter was conceived for the involved party.

Nobody is immune to rejection. It’s like a stab on our soul (emotion, intellect and will) that rewinds and pollutes our hearts and minds. It sapped our energy.

One day, as I praise and enjoy His presence, reality hits me that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suffered an agonizing rejection from His opponents/captors who misunderstood Him for my sake.

Who am I to run from occasional rejection that helps me identify with my Lord’s suffering that leads me closer to Him as my Savior, Shepherd, Lover, Caregiver, and Healer of my wounded soul?

I learned that crying, questioning, and praying with intensity to let go of the wrong that others did against me help my healing process from rejection. Separating the person from the act is the best. Some reject us out of their painful experience, misconception or personal struggles. Hating and retaliating is immature.

Every morning, before my feet hit the floor, “I am free from unforgiveness and strife as I am forgiven. I forgive others and forgive myself, Holy Spirit help me to love and forgive today.”

Does rejection control you or you control it by faith?
