Overflowing with Thankfulness

“So, then just a you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV).

A girl screamed, “Are you absolutely positive?” I sheepishly smiled at her and the other girl as they were parting ways in front of the school.

As the other girl ran on the other side of the street she replied, “I am!”

The girls’ affirmation to each other reminded me of Jesus’ Lordship on my life and yours. Receiving Christ as Lord and Savior of your life is the beginning of your new life. Christ wants to help you and guide you with your daily needs. Are you secured or absolutely positive in Christ’s love and goodness?

“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known among the nations what he has done” (1 Chronicles 16:8 NIV).

“I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you” (Psalm 35:18 NIV).

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:4-5 NIV).

“But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV).

“And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace of God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:14-15 NIV).

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel  from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:3-6 NIV).

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28 NIV).

True thanksgiving revolves on: (1) remembering what God has done, (2) telling others about it, (3) showing God’s glory to others, and (4) offering gifts of self, time, and resources. If you are overflowing with thankfulness, your life will show it.

I praise and adore You, Father for Jesus’ love and the Holy Spirit’s empowerment on me to love, serve, and joyfully share and celebrate Your blessings all the days of my life at home, in our neighborhood, at work, at school, and anywhere I set my feet. In Jesus’ holy and powerful name I thank you for answering my prayers for Your glory and honor. Amen.
