A Great Valentine’s Gift

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV).

“Lord, what is the is the greatest gift I could offer to my precious husband this Valentine’s Day? This is my eighteenth year of scrambling with ideas of what kind of card or gift for him.”

Reality hits me like a lightning, “You love to intercede for people, why not write a personal letter to your husband and express how you love and pray for him daily?

Since my practice is to pray my worries and requests to God every day, I decided to show my love by writing a prayer for him.

Praising God and praying His will for my husband is guaranteed to be my most rewarding service to the Lord, as his wife. I will be arming my marriage with God’s Word and investing in my husband’s role as my spiritual leader.

I praise You, the God of all wisdom for my husband. Thank you, God, for knowing Hal’s heart’s longings far better than I do. You know why he hungers for wisdom and knowledge. You know how these yearnings affect his decisions and how those decisions affect our marriage.

You are God who satisfies the longing soul. You fill the hungry soul with good things. Here is Hal’s heart and soul, Lord I lift him up to You and ask You to  fill him with the good You know He needs (Psalm 107:9; Matthew 6:8).

The world offers Hal so many things to temporarily satisfy his needs. Temptations abound, but You are his shield and his defender. Please train him to resist the devil (Psalm 28:7; Psalm 59:9; James 4:7).

I celebrate that You triumph over every one of Satan’s schemes and the scars he has left on my precious husband’s heart. You are Jehovah Rapha, Hal’s Healer. You are the Restorer of his soul. Let the balm of Your perfect love and mercy touch the brokenness of his heart (Psalm 23:3; Jeremiah 17:14).

I praise You Father through Jesus Christ for my peace as I daily surrender our needs and challenges as husband and wife to You. In the powerful name of my Lord, Savior, Lover of our soul, and Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

I saw my precious hubby’s twinkle in his eyes when I gave this message to him two years ago. Have you sent a prayer to your loved ones? God bless you and your family. You can connect and pray with me at http://www.lilianhosfeld.com.
